Kids Summer Wrestling Club here in PSJ K-12

Hello Port St John Friends,

If you are looking for a fun free event for your kids, there is a co-ed wrestling club in town.

The club is for kids in Kindergarten thru 12th grade. It's a free club, but students must become AAU members to participate(http://aausports.org/default.asp?a=pg_membership.htm) which is $14.00 a year.
The club meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 in the Space Coast mini-gym. Coach Tony McCormick is doing a great job with the club. There are not many younger kids in the program at this time so I am hoping to spread the word throughout the PSJ community so there are more elementary kids participating. It would be a great way to keep kids in shape between other sports.

If you have any questions let me know or stop by the gym to check it out. You park in the student parking lot at Space Coast. It is past the football field.

Doing spring cleaning and not wanting to throw away perfectly good items you no longer need? Try Brevard Freecycle. Everything on the site is freely given, no fees. It's a great idea, giving and receiving based on need and helping out the landfills.
You MUST sign up with yahoo groups to become a member but it works. I have used it...

Fundraiser for Philip

I received this information from one of our readers, please keep this family in your prayers:

Philip turned 19 on Sunday (4/19). He has been dealing with live threatening medical situations his entire life. He started having seizures as an infant including suffering a stroke. He has had 17 brain operations, more than 25 orthopedic operations, suffers from slit ventricle syndrome, and has multiple shunts, as well as seizures and chronic headaches that are part of his daily life. Next month, he is having yet another operation. This is a very serious operation that could have him having less mobility or even cost him his life. However, not doing the operation will just about guarantee one of these things happening.

They have 3 other children in their family along with Mom and Dad and Mom (Amy) was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas this past year. The family just doesn't have the resources to cover the medical bills at this moment.

How can you help? Along with your prayers, a wonderful lady named Brandy has offered to throw an online fundraising party with all the proceeds going toward Philip's medical bills. The fundraiser is for some absolutely wonderful wickless candles called Scentsy. The profit from your purchases will help pay Philip's medical bills. If you would simply like to make a donation, there is also a PayPal medical donation fund set up as well.

The online charity party is officially over the last Wednesday of April so its a great time to order Mother's Day, End of School year presents, birthday, etc.

Fraternal Order of Eagles

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.
Is this an organization you are interested in joining? A survey is being conducted to see how many people in the Port St. John & Canaveral Groves area would be interested in having a Fraternal Order of Eagles in our community.

If you are interested, please contact:
Darlena Cook, dcook@flecc.com or 321-482-0283 and leave a message.

You can find out more about the charities the FOE supports and how the organization helps communities at www.foe.com

Its supports the Armed Forces, Police, Fire and other local non profit organizations. Within the last few years the FOE started a new disaster relief program. In Florida, there are 11 trucks ready to respond. There is also a Junior eagles program for kids 8 to 18 years old. The FOE also has an Eagle Riders for those that enjoy their motorcycles. The local charter will also offer a place to have parties, dinners, activities, fund raisers and a place to relax and socialize in a smoke free environment.

At this point this is just a survey to ensure their is enough interest in having one in our community. We will not move forward without at least 50 men and 50 women to establish a charter.
