We still need to write letters and make phone calls. The legislatures were voted in by us and we need to tell them what we need. Ask questions in your letter. Such as:
- How much money do we need to get our education up to the standards of the rest of the country?
- How much money would be raised by adding a bottle water tax, raising the alcohol tax or adding an Internet tax?
- Will you support taxing big retail companies that don't currently pay Florida taxes?

I saw the coverage on TV, sorry I couldn't make it to be a part. I thought the suggestion that we add a penny or 2 to sales tax was worth while. Not sure which politician it was, but the coverage I saw showed someone abruptly refusing that idea. I think the time for politicians fearing for their reelection by refusing to be a party to the "T-word" has passed. I'd be willing to pay an extra quarter to 50 cents on a $25 purchase if it meant our children wouldn't be given a huge competitive disadvantage by shorting their education. And my child is still years away from entering public school!
