Do you want an Adult Arcade on Fay by Dominos, across from the ball park?
The request to change zoning for the strip center on Fay across from the baseball fields is up for a vote on November 5th. It is our County Commissioners, elected officials who will decide if an Adult Gaming Arcade should be allowed near our playgrounds, daycares, local school and churches. The change in zoning would not only allow for the arcade but alsoAdult XXX Entertainment. See attached comment trying to clarify.

If you are concerned about this change in zoning please e-mail the 5 County Commissioners. Their e-mail addresses are below. Our County Commissioner is Robin Fisher, District 1. However it is not just one commissioner that makes the decision. Have your families and friends throughout Brevard write on their grand children's behalf to their district commissioners. Spread the word. PSJ residents rallied together to allow our kids to continue to attend a PSJ school, lets rally together to keep our neighborhoods and playgrounds family friendly.

Dear Mr. Robin Fisher and fellow County Commissioners,
I have to voice my opposition to the proposed zoning changes for the Port St John, Fay Blvd strip center owned by Mr. Messer. This is not an appropriate area for an adult arcade. Arcade simply means gambling in my book but that is not the only reason I oppose this change.
The parking lot is inadequate to handle the increased daily traffic to the arcade causing the cars to park on the street which is the path directly to the public school Challenger 7. There is also a daycare and the community ball field in the same traffic pattern as this strip center.
Attached is a map, the GREEN arrows are where the daycare, ball field and school are currently. The red arrow is where you must STOP the permit for an Adult Arcade. Our children and families need not be in the mix with the customers of an adult arcade at this popular location.
Vote no on November 5th to Port St John zoning change.
Thank you for your time
Many of us are trying to wade through this zoning issue, here's more info to consider...
Thank you for joining the fight! I have to apologize that you may have been misled-though it is very difficult to wade through the indications of this zoning change.
First there is no doubt that an Adult gaming arcade was trying to get in at Fay Plaza- you can see the casino appropriate carpet in the old Music store.
There is some concern that the issue about” Adult entertainment” is not part of the zoning. There are distinctions in the law that I do not understand and it would probably help if we clarify with a county commissioner. One of the board members assured the crowd at the zoning meeting that any “AdultXXX” entertainment would fall under another category and need separate zoning changes. However, it could include - if I understand correctly, something like ‘adult sales” which could include adult books? I really don’t have a good handle yet-. So, the real focus is the increased liberal zoning , which WILL include the adult’s only gaming arcade. Do we want Bedford Falls or Pottersville? ( from “A wonderful Life”).
I’d like to have a flyer done this weekend- I was slowed down from the flu this past weekend. I am communicating with a lady at the commissioners office and hope to verify the details I mentioned above. C. Hanselmann is the woman’s name and you can find her email on the county commission web site. I am currently at work and have the details at home. Thank you for the commissioners contact info- we need to make a big showing at the meeting November 5, 5pm, which I was able to verify the date and time yesterday.
Honestly, at first I was thinking eh, good idea....add some revenue/business to PSJ. We got pizza places, we got gas stations, we got tanning salons, hair cutters/barbers, taverns, etc....honestly, depending on how "popular" the casino got, could the Fay Plaza accomodate the traffic increase? It seems quite cramped as it is now....
I'm not one to go to those casinos, so I don't know what the typical turn out and parking time is....but just a thought.
That, and Fay Blvd is fairly busy as it is currently, this could further congest this main artery of Port St. John...
