I received this email today from Robert Jordan:
As an update from administration, Dr. Bobay sent out this info. To one of the parents “The current proposal is scheduled as “information” for the December 11, 2007 School Board meeting. It will again be addressed as “information” at the January 22, 2008 School Board meeting. A specific staff proposal would be made after these two (2) meetings to the School Board in February, 2008 and action would be taken in March 2008 based on planning to this point.
The proposal you provided as an attachment has already changed at the elementary level for Port St. John based on the November 27, 2007 School Board workshop. The entire proposal is available on the District web site at www.brevard.k12.fl.us item H-13.
In answer to your questions Space Coast Junior Senior high School would continue to serve grades 7-12. It is anticipated that an estimated one hundred eighty five (185) prospective students (not currently enrolled in the school) in a designated area of Port St. John would receive services at Clearlake Middle School for grades 7 and 8 and return to Space Coast Junior Senior High School in grades 9-12. Students currently attending SCJSHS would continue in enrollment grades 7-8 or 9-12. Not all grades 7 and 8 Port St. John students would be served at Clearlake Middle School (CMS) since it does not have enough capacity. “
Another e-mail went out today to some of you that stated from Dr. DiPatri “Thank you for your message regarding the soft redistricting issue. The School Board will be considering this matter over the next few months. Information will be presented to the Board on December 11, 2007 and again on January 22, 2008. On February 12, 2008, the item will be brought for possible action to advertise for a public hearing on March 25, 2008. Your comments will be considered and shared with the members of the School Board.”
As you can see this process will take at least 3 months to mature. I will restate that all information that is being sent out via e-mail and on our web is “information” so that the public can see where the administration is proceeding as far as recommendations are concerned.
This board will make the final decision possibly in late March, I am sure there are going to be more changes and as I stated before my focus is to ensure we hold all the existing children as harmless as possible. From the first presentation, I was mistaken in believing that the only children that would be affected would be “new students” this is not correct and as you can see from the previous e-mail there are some that may be affected if they do not have siblings that are not in middle school now. But remember all of this is preliminary and I promise you we will be studying this hard to get it as clean and clear as possible so that you the parent can make quality decisions about your child’s education.
Thanks for letting me serve you and I look forward to hearing from you on this very important matter.

Someone help me understand the political talk. Mr. Jordan wrote: "...From the first presentation, I was mistaken in believing that the only children that would be affected would be “new students” this is not correct and as you can see from the previous e-mail there are some that may be affected if they do not have siblings that are not in middle school now..."
So, who is affected?
Any new to 7th grade student for next school year in the zoned areas (red areas on our map)
I got this same e-mail. I like the response from Bobay better, it's more personal. This was a cut and paste answer. It is trying to correct past mistakes and to keep us informed but I never received a personal response to my specific questions.
