The School Board votes tomorrow at a SPECIAL school board meeting to extend the school year to more than the current 180 days. This affects EVERY school in Brevard county including, year-round and charter schools. With positions already expressed by the current school board members this WILL pass. http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080917/NEWS01/809170315/-1/SEVENDAYS
Things to consider...
> They do not say how many more days they want.
> Fiscally there will be more expenses, across the board, in a time of tight finances. More school buses, custodians, electricity, salaries. More everything.

Sadly, I cannot make it to the school board meeting.
After speaking with Brevard County School Board employees, the feeling is that this is a done deal.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. You may like to know that the actual wording of the proposed strategy states: “The district will increase instructional time for students by 5% by the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.” I expect there will be further discussion about it at the board meeting tomorrow.
