A suggestion was brought up to make Space Coast a Jr. Sr high school forever.
This plan would change out the portables to build permanent classrooms at a much lower cost than building an entire new middle school in 2012.
> Cost of new middle school approx $32 million vs. new classrooms for $5.
> By building these classrooms, Space Coast would be in compliance with the 100% capacity by the 2013 deadline by the state.
> Funds are available! Don't let them say they are not. The Impact Fees total close to $3 million now.
> The savings from NOT bussing should be diverted to this plan.
o Save $1 million (or more) by not having to buy new busses.
o Save fuel costs over $700/student per year.
What do you think? E-mail the school board members your thought on this idea.
