Here's the beginning
2 sessions considered for school

School board member Larry Hughes asked his board colleagues to consider starting double sessions at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High to keep Port St. John students in their neighborhood school -- a move that would split students into morning and afternoon groups.

Hughes' proposal comes in response to strong opposition to Brevard Public Schools' soft redistricting plan, under which about 200 Port St. John students would be bussed to Clearlake Middle School in Cocoa to cut back on overcrowding at Space Coast and meet state mandates for class size.

Many parents said they would rather have their students crammed into 37 portables at Space Coast than bussed to Cocoa, more than 10 miles away.
