Florida today newspaper article

This is an article from Florida Today. Monday, February 4, 2008.

School district holds redistricting workshop. The Brevard County School Board will hold a workshop on soft redistricting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday in the Florida Room on the third floor of Building "C" of the Government Center, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way.

Soft redistricting is an attempt to redraw boundary lines so that each school can be at or below 100 percent capacity by 2013.

The district must ease over-crowding in all schools in order to comply with Florida growth management laws and concurrency agreements with local governments.

Under the tentative plan, as many as 1,500 new students and some students already in the school system -- such as current sixth-graders graduating from to middle school -- would be affected by the zoning changes.

The public is invited to attend the workshop, but the agenda does not allow public comment.

The school board will discuss the plan and it's Feb. 12 meeting and hold a public hearing on March 25.

Looks like we can listen but not participate. We need to send emails to every member of the board and tell them since we don't have a choice to have a voice that afternoon they need to be our voices for us and speak our ideas and concerns.

here are the e-mail addresses of the board members...
