Maybe you thought it was an April Fools' Day Joke ~ NO SUMMER SCHOOL

I heard it a couple of times that there would be no summer school. WHAT?!?! Students who are failing will repeat the same grade next year without the opportunity to attend summer school to move up the grade. Well, it is true, in part. Budget cuts are the reason. Here's how I read it...

• no remedial math or reading in High School
• transportation at parents expense
• possible fee for summer school
• busses for special need students only
• biggest impact will be high school students who need credits (can you predict increased dropout?)
• bus drivers and teachers who needed the $ are out of luck
• Up to the individual schools what they will have and how

SO maybe you want to contact your school, if you feel your child needs the summer school, and see if it will be available.
