Stuff too good for trash? Free cycle it...

I get so ubber conscious of all the items on the curb when trash day comes around. I think, "that's a perfectly good table for someone who has to start all over." They are filling up the landfill and someone is probably in need of it. I heard of freecycle quite a while ago (probably years ago) but I am finally getting to use it and save the landfill one item at a time. LOL

The idea is to post something that you don't need anymore and someone will reply who needs it. The items are totally free. I.e... box of tangled Christmas lights. I'm not going to detangle them but I know they work and I don't want to trash them. I posted that I was giving them away and I had a reply within minutes.

There are three sites in Brevard that I have found (you must join yahoo groups)...
Port St John
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PortSaintJohn_Freecycle/

Cocoa MI area
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cocoa-Merritt-Island-Fl-Freecycle/

All of Brevard
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BrevardCountyFreecycle-rs/

Just so you know
You will get tons of e-mail unless you check a subscription box that says "web only"

I think its a great idea! Go Green! One's man trash is another man's treasure. Also, if you put something out on a day other than trash day someone will usually pick it up within hours.
