K9 Web Protection is an excellent tool to protect your family from the internet. You can block certain sites from being viewed and even set up times that the internet can be used so your children are not on when you aren't home. Best of all its free. I've been using it for years. Just make sure you use a password that your children can't figure out. I found it very easy to use.

Great advice! If you are a Mac user you can find similar tools to protect your family by going to the Apple menu in the top left of the screen, selecting Preferences and select the "Parental Controls" preference panel.
